About The Position

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) keeping the hospital environment neat, clean & orderly. Provide routine cleaning to all public, clinical, ancillary & support areas of the Hospital & LC on a daily basis. Responsible for handling & disposal of regular & bio-hazardous waste & sharps. Perform additional housekeeping tasks as assigned. Cross train in laundry & floor care maintenance if necessary. Each employee is equally empowered to assist the hospital in meeting its annual goals of financial responsibility, customer satisfaction & quality care. Each employee shares equally in following SJH's quality performance improvement model to problem solving. Performs duties according to the Scope of Service for EVS.

Requirements

  • Driver License Required
  • Willing to work hard be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Must display good listening skills and follow instructions as given.
  • Must interact with patients, visitors and hospital staff in a courteous, professional manner.
  • Display ability to function as a team member.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule as days off or shifts may vary.
  • Must be able to work quickly & adapt to frequent changes in routine.
  • Demonstrate an ability to problem-solve & make decisions according to priorities & standards.
  • Must be thorough & detailed in all cleaning & other assignments.
  • Must be physically able to bend, kneel, and raise arms above shoulder level.
  • Must be able to push and pull essential housekeeping, laundry and floor equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be on feet standing or walking 90% of shift.

Responsibilities

  • Routine Cleaning Duties Consistently demonstrates appropriate area cleaning and/or disinfection techniques which meet or exceed standards established in: a. Patient Discharge/ resident wash down b. Occupied patient/resident rooms c. Ancillary and support service areas d. Utility Room/Closets f. Offices / Public areas
  • Consistently maintains Housekeeping Cart Cleanliness - Replenishes Chemicals and supplies daily.
  • Consistently and thoroughly completes daily area assignment sheets - Logs out and returns keys and/or beepers.
  • Consistently Practices Universal Precaution Techniques/ body substance isolation procedures by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Follows good hand-washing techniques.
  • Consistently maintains high level of productivity and takes initiative to perform other duties above and beyond normal assignments.
  • Responds Quickly And Effectively To Calls or Requests For Housekeeping Services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of housekeeping chemicals dispensing system (3M twist and fill) by utilizing correct solution for specific cleaning.
  • Disinfecting tasks and promoting cost saving efforts.
  • Demonstrates concern for housekeeping areas by cleaning housekeeping closet and equipment in assigned areas daily.
  • Assists in keeping break/locker room area neat and clean.
  • Ensure patient safety by maintaining Open Hallway / Exit Thoroughfares, and utilizing wet floor signs, locking bed brakes, and etc.
  • Assures compliance with sharps container/needle box procedures by disposing when container is 3/4 full or upon request.
  • Demonstrate willingness to follow all St. John's Hospital and EVS departmental policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to and practices St. John's Corporate Compliance Program and participates in Performance Improvement activities.
