About The Position

The Housekeeper (Room Attendant) helps maintain clean, sanitary, and welcoming guest rooms and assigned areas at The Phelps, a 134-room hotel in Cincinnati. The role contributes to guest satisfaction through careful room preparation, attention to detail, and courteous service. The housekeeper works with the housekeeping team, maintains and uses equipment and supplies appropriately, and follows hotel cleanliness, safety, and Green Program standards. Experienced housekeepers may have opportunities to grow into supervisory or management roles.

Requirements

Neat appearance and pleasant personality.
Time management skills.
Ability to work on feet for an extended period.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to read room numbers, dates, and basic instructions.
Ability to move, traverse, and position oneself to reach floor corners and high places; observe conditions and detect odors; and maneuver carts weighing up to 100 pounds in tight spaces.
Ability to operate spray bottles, vacuums, mops, brooms, dust pans, scrub pads, and dusters.
Ability to lift, carry, and position loads of at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Engage with guests to ensure their stay is going well.
Work as part of a team to maintain resort and hotel cleanliness.
Keep the work cart orderly and properly stocked.
Use equipment, supplies, and guest amenities properly.
Thoroughly clean and sanitize assigned guest areas.
Change and inspect linens and towels daily, following Green Program standards.
Follow safety standards, watch for hazards, and report issues such as broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks, and suspicious persons.
Respect guests’ property.
Care for equipment responsibly.
Report to work on time and according to the posted schedule, maintain accurate time records, and follow proper standards for room issuance.
Remain alert, courteous, and helpful to guests and co-workers.
Perform other related duties as requested by the Floor Supervisor.
