About The Position

The Housekeeper is responsible for preventing the spread of disease by thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing areas, properly removing waste, and maintaining assigned patient and non-patient areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. The role follows established schedules, procedures, and infection control guidelines and helps keep the Medical Center neat and orderly. This position is onsite at North Shore Medical Center, Inc., works 40 scheduled hours per week on the night shift, and does not require patient care.

Requirements

Some high school completed.
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and how to apply them safely.
Working knowledge of cleaning tools such as vacuum cleaners and floor buffers.

Related experience of 0–1 year preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform cleaning duties according to organizational standards, established schedules, and infection control guidelines.
Complete waste stream removal.
Clean and service assigned areas according to established procedures.
Move furniture, equipment, and supplies within Medical Center departments and perform cleaning duties to maintain a neat, orderly, and sanitary hospital.
Operate assigned equipment, including floor machines and buffers.
Participate in at least eight unit or department meetings annually.
Maintain assigned patient and non-patient areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition at all times.
