About The Position

The Housekeeper works in Environmental Services to help keep the hospital safe and clean for patients and families. The role involves cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms and common areas using an established system, removing regular trash and medical waste safely, and using basic cleaning tools and floor-care equipment. Housekeepers may also move chairs, tables, or hospital equipment and communicate daily with nurses, patients, and supervisors about which rooms need cleaning. Paid on-the-job training is provided, and prior hospital experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms and common areas using the hospital's step-by-step system.
• Safely empty regular trash and medical waste bins.
• Use mops, vacuums, carpet cleaners, and floor scrubbers.
• Move chairs, tables, or hospital equipment when needed.
• Communicate daily with nurses, patients, and supervisors to determine which rooms need cleaning next.
