About The Position

This is a full-time, day-shift position that includes working every weekend. The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents. This involves following cleaning schedules, coordinating with nursing services, and adhering to infection control practices. The role requires attention to detail in cleaning resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and floors, as well as managing waste and maintaining resident confidentiality.

• Proficiency in carpet cleaning (vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, disinfecting).
• Proficiency in wall and ceiling cleaning (washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing).
• Ability to remove dirt, dust, grease, and film from surfaces.
• Ability to clean hallways.
• Ability to properly discard waste and reline trash receptacles.
• Ability to clean vacant rooms.
• Ability to handle infectious waste appropriately.
• Ability to maintain resident confidentiality.
• Respect for residents' personal and property rights.
• Ability to turn in found articles.

Responsibilities

• Follow work/cleaning schedules as closely as practical.
• Coordinate daily housekeeping duties with nursing services when performing routine cleaning in resident living areas.
• Maintain assigned work areas in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner.
• Maintain established infection control and universal practices when performing housekeeping duties.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous objects.
• Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
• Keep supervisor informed of supply needs.
• Clean work/supply carts, equipment, etc. as necessary or directed.
• Perform day-to-day housekeeping functions as assigned.
• Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily assignments.
• Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc. in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc. daily as instructed.
• Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures.
• Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, stripping, waxing, buffing, disinfecting, etc.
• Clean carpets, to include vacuuming, shampooing, deodorizing, and disinfecting, etc.
• Clean walls and ceilings by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.
• Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc. from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Clean hallways.
• Discard waste trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles with plastic liners.
• Clean vacant rooms as assigned.
• Discard infectious wastes into appropriate containers.
• Maintain the confidentiality of resident information.
• Honor the residents' personal and property rights.
• Turn in all found articles to the charge nurse.
