About The Position

To participate as a member of the Cleaning Team in creating and maintaining a therapeutic, organized and clean environment for the children and staff assigned to the Residential Program group home.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/ GED Equivalent, required.
  • Prior experience in general housekeeping duties, required.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive environment for children is essential.
  • A Clean and Valid New York State Driver’s License (actively licensed at least one year) - is required.
  • Flexibility to work after regular business hours to complete all assigned job tasks, required.
  • Excellent organization, planning and time management skills; Ability to effectively manage (in a timely manner) the varied tasks of the position.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and exhibit empathy for those in need.
  • Capable of exercising ethical, independent judgment and discretion, and handle sensitive data with strict confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated and engaged, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Qualities of positivity, patience and adaptability to day-to-day changes with client needs and functioning.
  • Must be willing and able to work in close proximity with the clients we serve.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment background check requirements, including CBC fingerprinting.
  • Staff in driving positions must be able to meet the agency’s minimum requirements of our insurance policy for authorized drivers including, but not limited to, the minimum age of 21 at time of hire; with the ability to maintain insurability throughout employment.

  • Previous experience working in a human services agency, is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to the work plan provided by the Program Manager, which may include providing housekeeping services at other Residential program locations.
  • Follows the assigned duties as listed in the daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules, including washing, drying and folding laundry, returning items to respective storage places and cleaning laundry areas; sweeping and mopping floors including offices and medication rooms; vacuuming carpets, rugs and stairs; cleaning bathrooms and facilities, including medication rooms, and sanitizing as needed; requesting supplies as needed and keeping equipment in safe working condition; returning trashcans to storage area; following regulations used to control infectious diseases; checking storage areas and organizing them as needed; and ensuring that all windows and doors are securely locked at the end of the shift.
  • Completes seasonal or periodic tasks as assigned by the Program Manager, including cleaning windows and windowsills, cleaning and organizing the storage room, and cleaning curtains and seat covers.

  • Adheres to communicable disease and infection control procedures.
  • Additional position-related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager.
