About The Position

Rosepine Retirement is seeking an energetic Housekeeper/Laundry Aide. This role is responsible for the general cleaning of all common areas and resident rooms to ensure residents live in a clean and comfortable environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, willing to help where needed, conscientious about following policies and procedures, and takes pride in their work.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have some knowledge in the use of cleaning devices such as brooms, mops, buffers and other cleaning equipment.
  • Has an interest in learning, ability to cooperate, and is willing to work under supervision.
  • Must work scheduled hours each week, which may include working weekends and holidays.
  • Must have a pre-employment and an annual Tuberculosis screening examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience preferable but not essential.
  • Worker receives on-the-job training with supervision.
  • Genuine interest in working with geriatrics.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and services rooms, baths, lavatories, and other resident areas.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Cleans windowsills, baseboards, empties trash baskets, and arranges furniture.
  • Performs a variety of related duties in resident areas.
  • Cleans and services assigned areas and equipment, ensuring efficient expenditure of supplies.
  • Keeps the nursing facility in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Services are performed within every department of the facility and are planned with all departments.
  • Executes duties under the direction and supervision of the Director of Nurses and/or Administrator and Housekeeping Supervisor according to assignment.
  • Keeps the nursing facility in a clean and sanitary condition to provide for the welfare and care of residents in a healthful environment.
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in the area.
  • Maintains assigned area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Works under close supervision performing simple, standardized tasks.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Attends required staff in-services, meetings, orientation, and continuing education activities as required.
  • Is aware of and adheres to Patient’s Bill of Rights and confidentiality of patient information including HIPAA regulations.
  • Interacts with patients and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner.
  • Is aware of Patient Abuse Reporting Law.
  • Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Dusts furniture with a damp cloth or polishing cloth daily; straightens furniture.
  • Dusts light fixtures (outside and inside), dusts windowsills, baseboards and beds, cleans all door vents.
  • Empties and washes ashtrays and wastebaskets.
  • Dry mops floors in residents' rooms then wet mops rooms, if assigned.
  • Cleans wash basins, commodes, polishes chrome fixtures in bathrooms, washes all mirrors, and spot cleans walls.
  • Cleans window blinds.
  • Cleans beds thoroughly.
  • Cleans bedside tables in resident's rooms, dusts all shelves, removing all articles making sure thorough cleaning is done.
  • Cleans housecleaning cart.
  • Cleans any equipment used daily.
  • Cleans all rooms each week.
  • Assists with emergency cleaning during the day as required.
  • Mops, waxes and buffs hallways, living areas, and dining areas as assigned.
  • Practices economy in using supplies and equipment.
  • Dispenses supplies according to need.
  • Maintains safeguards for the care, storage, and use of supplies and equipment.
  • Reports to Administrator or DON any supplies or equipment needed, or any broken or defective equipment.
  • Ensures resident rooms are prepared for new admissions.
  • Assists in moving residents within the facility.
  • Makes frequent rounds of the total facility to inspect for cleanliness and order.
  • Inspects for maintenance and refers needs to the maintenance department or Administrator and/or DON.
