About The Position

The Housekeeper/Dietary Aide performs housekeeping and dietary duties at Terrace Heights Retirement Community. Housekeeping work includes cleaning apartments according to a schedule or at tenants’ request; cleaning bathrooms and kitchens; and helping clean the lobby, halls, aviary, and common areas. Duties may also include collecting, sorting, washing, finishing, and inspecting laundry, as well as orienting and instructing new workers in the use of supplies and work techniques. Dietary duties include washing dishes and cookware, stocking food and serving supplies, sorting and removing trash, and assisting with food preparation. The employee picks up meals at a hospital using a personal vehicle and transports them to the Terrace Heights building. The role also involves keeping accurate records, maintaining equipment, reporting supply needs and defects to a supervisor, and performing other requested duties. The position is PRN and scheduled as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Six months of related work experience preferred.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.
Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
Ability to read and follow instructions.
Willingness to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Clean apartments according to the cleaning schedule and at tenants’ requests, including vacuuming, emptying wastebaskets, changing linens, making beds, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens.
Clean bathrooms by mopping floors, scrubbing fixtures and surfaces, and replacing towels, soap, and toilet paper.
Clean kitchens, including countertops and refrigerators and microwaves when needed.
Help clean the lobby, halls, aviary, and common areas by vacuuming, mopping, dusting, washing surfaces, emptying trash, and completing other necessary tasks.
Collect and sort soiled laundry; wash and extract laundry; perform routine finishing tasks such as folding, spreading, ironing, and stacking.
Inspect clothing for cleanliness and route items that do not meet standards for rewashing.
Orient and instruct new workers and demonstrate the use of supplies and operating techniques.
Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, and cookware by hand or dishwasher, and store clean items.
Stock food, dishes, and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, and refrigerators.
Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.
Assist with cleaning and preparing food for cooking or serving as needed.
Pick up meals at a hospital using a personal vehicle and transport them to the Terrace Heights building.
Keep accurate records.
Report supply and equipment needs to the supervisor and maintain equipment used in the work.
Report wear and defects in furnishings, structures, and equipment to the supervisor.
Perform other duties as requested.
