About The Position

The Housekeeper/Dietary Aide at Terrace Heights Retirement Community performs housekeeping, laundry, and dietary duties. The role includes cleaning apartments, bathrooms, kitchens, the lobby, halls, aviary, and other common areas; collecting, washing, finishing, and inspecting laundry; washing and storing dishes; stocking food and serving supplies; sorting and removing trash; and assisting with food preparation. The position also picks up meals from a hospital using a personal vehicle, maintains accurate records and equipment, reports supply and equipment needs and defects to a supervisor, and may orient and train new workers. Schedules are PRN, with work scheduled as needed.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and personal vehicle.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays as assigned.
• Self-starter with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Six months of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean apartments according to the cleaning schedule, including vacuuming, emptying wastebaskets, changing linens, making beds, dusting, and cleaning bathrooms and kitchens; clean at tenants' requests.
• Clean bathrooms by mopping floors, scrubbing toilets, tubs, basins, and counters, and replacing towels, soap, and toilet paper.
• Clean kitchens by cleaning countertops and checking and cleaning refrigerators and microwaves as needed.
• Perform assigned cleaning tasks in the lobby, halls, aviary, and common areas, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, washing surfaces, and emptying trash.
• Collect, sort, wash, extract, and finish laundry, including folding, spreading, ironing, and stacking.
• Orient and instruct new workers and demonstrate the use of supplies and operating techniques.
• Inspect clothing for cleanliness and route items that do not meet standards for rewashing.
• Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, and pots and pans by dishwasher or by hand, and store clean dishes.
• Stock food, dishes, and utensils in serving stations, cupboards, and refrigerators.
• Sort and remove trash and place it in designated pickup areas.
• Assist with cleaning and preparing foods for cooking or serving as needed.
• Pick up meals at a hospital using a personal vehicle and transport them to the Terrace Heights building.
• Keep accurate records.
• Report supply and equipment needs to the supervisor and maintain equipment used in performing duties.
• Report wear and defects in furnishings, structures, and equipment to the supervisor.
• Perform other duties as requested.
