About The Position

We are a warm, down-to-earth family with two school-age children and a beloved senior dog, seeking a Household Manager & Family Assistant to become the steady operational foundation of our household. The ideal candidate will help everything behind the scenes run smoothly, allowing the family to spend more time enjoying each other. We value routines, thoughtful organization, healthy living, and creating a welcoming and put-together environment. This role involves managing household organization, laundry, meal prep support, inventory, errands, occasional deep cleaning, family support, pet care, vendor oversight, and administrative/personal assistant tasks. The position is part-time, 15-20 hours per week, with guaranteed 15 hours, scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with flexible timing. The family also spends summers at a beach home, where the role shifts to lighter logistical support and managing household needs remotely. We are looking for someone who takes pride in making life easier for others, naturally notices what needs attention, enjoys creating lasting systems, and finds satisfaction in making a meaningful impact on the family's everyday life.

Responsibilities

  • Create and/or maintain household organization systems
  • Perform daily resets and prepare home for cleaners
  • Light tidying including dishes, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Manage seasonal swaps for clothing, décor, and bedding
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Assist with event/holiday/guest preparation, including birthday party prep
  • Manage inventory for travel
  • Perform indoor plant care
  • Manage full-family laundry, including washing, folding, and putting items away
  • Manage regular bed linen and towel rotation and refreshing
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and well-stocked laundry area
  • Prep 2-3 healthy meals per week
  • Prep school lunches
  • Perform grocery shopping in-store, adhering to dietary needs/preferences (clean, organic foods)
  • Handle daily kitchen clean-up and maintenance
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
  • Manage running household supply lists
  • Oversee household orders and subscriptions (e.g., Amazon, Costco, Target)
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping
  • Manage mail and package handling when the family is away
  • Perform inventory management and organization (e.g., towels)
  • Conduct occasional deep cleans of the fridge, oven, and baseboards
  • Manage toy rotation and playroom organization
  • Undertake ongoing organizational projects as systems are established and maintained
  • Prepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks for children
  • Assist with the logistics of scheduling children’s appointments (no transportation required)
  • Handle kid-related errands
  • Prepare fresh homemade dog food (chicken and rice)
  • Take the dog outside as needed, including carrying the 20-pound dog due to mobility limitations
  • Serve as backup pet-sitting support as needed
  • Maintain pet supplies
  • Coordinate and communicate with existing cleaners and landscapers
  • Manage outdoor spaces at the primary residence
  • Support property readiness for the summer home, including inventory
  • Oversee preparation for the family's return to the primary residence at the end of summer
  • Manage household and family calendars, coordinating with the working parent's Chief of Staff
  • Coordinate events and appointments
  • Schedule vehicle maintenance
  • Handle vehicle fueling, cleaning, and organizing
  • Track vehicle registration and insurance
