About The Position

We are a warm, close-knit family seeking a dedicated Household Manager & Family Assistant to help with household operations. This role is key in keeping the family organized and on track, enabling us to focus on enjoying our time together while ensuring that all household tasks run smoothly. The role requires an organized, self-directed individual who thrives on structure and managing complex responsibilities, acting as the 'CEO of the home,' managing all household operations and staff with an eye for detail and a proactive approach. The candidate should excel at thinking ahead, anticipating the needs of the family, and keeping everything running smoothly without being asked. A strong project management mentality is essential for juggling multiple responsibilities and keeping everyone and everything on track. High accountability is expected, with a focus on improving systems and creating efficiencies. The candidate should bring a warm, positive, and open energy, be hands-on in helping with children's academic needs, offering support and guidance with homework while holding them accountable, and engage with children calmly without doing the work for them. Experience in overseeing the day-to-day management of both family logistics and household operations is crucial. The candidate should be grounded, resilient, and adaptable, taking initiative and handling challenges with flexibility. Clear communication, preferably via group text, is important, as is a value for consistency and follow-through. The role requires someone who can be counted on to lead the household with integrity, grace, and a focus on creating a harmonious home life.

Responsibilities

  • Calendar management (including household schedules)
  • Making calls and sending emails on behalf of family to coordinate as-needed administrative tasks
  • Managing family forms/paperwork, including getting forms from doctor for school, camp, and other activities, and submitting insurance reimbursement paperwork
  • Handling family personal and administrative projects (calendars, holiday cards etc.)
  • Travel planning and logistics
  • Event and appointment coordination
  • Pick-ups/drop-offs from school and activities, using family vehicle as required
  • Homework help, guidance and support for middle-school aged kids
  • Light supervision / back-up childcare
  • Kid-related errands
  • Create and/or Maintain household organization systems
  • Daily resets and prep home for cleaners
  • Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
  • Conducting seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Event/holiday/guest prep
  • Packing/unpacking for travel
  • Indoor plant care
  • Changing batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
  • Restocking pantry/fridge/household supplies
  • Managing running household supply lists
  • Managing household orders and subscriptions (Amazon/Costco/Target)
  • Handling returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping
  • Mail and package handling
  • Breaking down boxes
  • Overseeing and scheduling cleaners/contractors/vendors
  • Researching/coordinating repairs and quotes
  • Managing outdoor spaces
  • Pet care: feeding/walking (2x daily, 30 minutes), vet/grooming scheduling, maintaining pet supplies
  • Overseeing occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards)
  • Refreshing mudroom/entry/storage
  • Overseeing cleaning of humidifiers/air purifiers
  • Organizational projects (toys, gear, closets)
  • Vehicle management: scheduling maintenance, fueling/cleaning/organizing vehicles, tracking registration/insurance
  • Assisting with meal prep 1x weekly
  • Grocery shopping
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance as needed
  • Laundry & Linen Care: Wash/fold/organize laundry 1x weekly, maintaining tidy and well-stocked laundry areas
