Household Manager & Family Assistant

Sage HausClaremont, NH
$30 - $35Onsite

About The Position

We are a warm, loving, and busy family seeking thoughtful and dependable support for our household. We are a two parent household, and we both work from home, with careers we love and flexible hours. We also love spending time with our kids and are planning to home educate them for the next few years. Mom also has a chronic illness and needs to carefully manage energy levels during the day. Finding the right balance of time for parenting, work, and health/self-care is difficult but essential for our family! We are looking for a household manager who can help make this dream come true. We have two young children (ages 4 and 6) who will start homeschooling this fall. We also have a teenager (age 16) who is very busy out of the house with school, activities, and a long commute (and who doesn’t have a driver’s license just yet). We also have two young adult children (one still in college and one a recent graduate) who live away but visit home. We also have an indoor cat. There is always a lot happening at once in our home, and so much that needs to happen to keep it all running smoothly! We rely on systems and routines to stay organized and provide a peaceful home environment. We are looking for someone who can step in and help lighten the daily load by assisting with meal prep, laundry, tidying and organization, errands, childcare, and transportation. This will allow Mom to teach the little ones while still maintaining part-time work hours, and allow us all to enjoy family time on the weekends, eat healthy meals, and still get enough sleep! We are transitioning towards a whole foods, unprocessed, plant-based diet, which means there is a lot to do in the kitchen! We don’t need you to do any complicated cooking or plan the meals, but being comfortable in the kitchen, willing to learn basic skills as needed, and able to follow directions for meal prep is important. Again, organization is key for keeping everyone fed. Kindness, flexibility, initiative, reliability, and a positive attitude are all important in our home. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys children, feels comfortable in a busy household environment, and can become a calm, capable, and trusted presence in our home. Someone who values education, role models a healthy lifestyle, and enjoys spending time outdoors in all seasons would feel especially aligned with our family. Who You Are / What We’re Looking For You are reliable, organized, and highly proactive, with a natural ability to notice what needs attention and step in without needing constant direction. Comfortable in a lively, active home where the family is home throughout much of the day, you can figure out where you can be most helpful without requiring frequent check-ins or oversight. The right person for this role is authentically comfortable with children and naturally intuitive in how you connect with them. You are kind, positive, engaging, and able to build rapport while still maintaining professionalism, good judgment, and appropriate boundaries. While this is not a nanny role, enjoying children and being comfortable interacting with them throughout the day is important. This role includes some childcare, driving, and supervision but you will not be expected to teach or “entertain” them. You must be a safe, confident driver who can drop off and pick up children from their activities on time. You are very organized, self-directed, and capable. You are comfortable taking ownership of your responsibilities, helping the household run more smoothly without creating additional management for the parents. You can organize and consistently follow systems for things like stocking the pantry and getting the laundry done, and you’re comfortable in the kitchen with tasks such as washing and chopping vegetables, following simple recipes, and packing kid lunches. You’re also able to be flexible and prioritize needs on a day-to-day basis. You’ll enjoy settling into the routines of a busy home, managing the household tasks that keep a family running smoothly. You’re able to adapt your work to suit the routines of homeschooling and understand how we use the space (for example, not planning to do meal prep during our baking time). You’re happy to be an extra set of hands as needed during our homeschool day, and also able to maneuver around the chaos and fun to take ownership of your own tasks.
