About The Position

We are a warm, active, and deeply connected family of five seeking a proactive and organized Household Manager & Family Assistant. Our home is full of movement with work schedules, school activities, sports, and social commitments. We are looking for a partner who anticipates needs, stays ahead of details, and helps create a sense of ease and organization behind the scenes. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in creating systems, organizing spaces, solving problems, and bringing order to busy environments. You will be empowered to make recommendations, improve systems, and take ownership of your responsibilities, becoming a trusted and valued part of our support system. The position involves a variety of tasks including household management, family support, errands, meal planning and preparation, laundry, deep cleaning, and administrative support.

Responsibilities

  • Create and/or maintain household organization systems.
  • Perform daily resets and prepare the home for cleaners.
  • Light tidying including dishes, beds, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Manage seasonal swaps for children's clothing, décor, and bedding.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Assist with event/holiday/guest preparation, including gift shipping, wrapping, and decorations.
  • Pack/unpack for travel and prepare for travel by taking inventory.
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
  • Pick up children from school and drive them to and from extracurricular activities.
  • Provide after-school supervision, including homework support.
  • Assist with school preparation, including lunches, backpacks, clothing, and snacks.
  • Administer child medication as prescribed on a strict schedule.
  • Provide occasional evening and date-night coverage.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Handle restocking of household supplies via online retailers and stores.
  • Manage running household supply lists and subscriptions.
  • Handle returns, gift shopping, and mail/package management.
  • Pick up prescriptions.
  • Break down cardboard boxes and drop off recycling.
  • Prepare dry cleaning for scheduled pickup/drop-off service.
  • Plan and prepare 3 to 4 dinners per week, including batch cooking and fresh meals.
  • Perform grocery shopping.
  • Prepare school lunches and after-school snacks.
  • Follow dietary needs and preferences, with attention to a child's egg allergy.
  • Perform kitchen clean-up and maintenance following meal prep.
  • Wash, fold, and organize family laundry.
  • Manage linen rotation.
  • Perform ironing and steaming as needed.
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area.
  • Perform occasional deep cleans of the fridge, oven, baseboards, etc.
  • Reset zones for mudroom, entryway, and garage daily.
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers as needed.
  • Undertake organizational projects throughout the home (toys, gear, storage areas, garage, etc.).
  • Manage the household calendar, including proactive conflict identification and logistical planning.
  • Oversee cleaners, contractors, vendors, and landscapers, allowing entry and providing light oversight.
  • Assist with temporary family moves during home renovations.
  • Manage outdoor spaces as needed (patio, outdoor furniture, etc.).
  • Keep the vehicle tidy and remind children to remove belongings/food.
  • Handle car washes and fueling as needed.
