About The Position

This is a part-time Household Manager / Family Assistant role, approximately 20 hours per week, with guaranteed hours and flexible additional hours. The primary goal is to reduce the mental load of running the household, creating a calmer, more organized, and easier-to-maintain home environment. The role involves supporting a busy household with several children of varying ages and needs, two large friendly dogs, and two smaller dogs. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, comfortable with a lively environment, and possess a calm, grounded presence. Responsibilities span household organization, maintenance, laundry, errands, meal preparation, family support, pet care, vehicle upkeep, and vendor oversight. This position requires reliability, initiative, and a genuine care for the well-being of the household.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Comfortable using the family vehicle for child transport and errands.
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience with, or sensitivity to, neurodivergent individuals is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Up-to-date vaccinations (general wellness, COVID, and flu) preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and implement sustainable organizational systems throughout the home (kitchen, pantry, children's spaces, etc.).
  • Support light upkeep of children’s spaces, including organization and tidying.
  • Perform daily resets: tidying, dishes, wiping surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Prep the home before monthly deep cleans.
  • Coordinate seasonal clothing swaps and donations.
  • Refresh laundry area, mudroom, and entryway areas.
  • Assist in nudging household members on assigned chores and maintaining routines.
  • Prepare for holidays, vacations, and guests, including gift wrapping.
  • Manage household laundry, including washing, folding, organizing, and maintaining laundry supplies.
  • Rotate linens and maintain laundry areas.
  • Replace worn or stained linens within budget.
  • Receive and put away grocery deliveries, reconciling orders.
  • Manage and right-size household product subscriptions.
  • Maintain inventory of pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Handle occasional returns and dry cleaning.
  • Organize refrigerator contents for easy access.
  • Transition household products towards cleaner and plastic-free options.
  • Phase 1 Meal Prep: Rinse and organize produce; prep simple school lunches.
  • Phase 2 Meal Prep: Batch cook meals, prep proteins, prepare grab-and-go lunches and snacks.
  • Perform kitchen clean-up and general maintenance.
  • Assist school-age child with morning routines and bus preparation.
  • Provide occasional afternoon bus pickup.
  • Provide transportation for older child to college classes.
  • Offer light backup childcare coverage during parent's work travel.
  • Assist with kid-related errands.
  • Assist with scheduling children's medical and related appointments.
  • Provide short dog walks or light enrichment during shifts.
  • Schedule grooming appointments and transport pets to groomer.
  • Maintain pet supply inventory.
  • Schedule routine maintenance for the family vehicle.
  • Coordinate monthly car washes and periodic detailing.
  • Perform maintenance cleaning between professional deep cleans.
  • Undertake organizational projects for toys, kids' gear, and seasonal items.
  • Refresh and organize storage areas (basement, storage room, mudroom).
  • Research, schedule, and oversee home maintenance vendors.
  • Coordinate vendor quotes and manage vendor visits.
  • Manage a monthly household incidentals budget.
