Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a House Supervisor, specifically in ICU.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • BLS and ACLS from AHA required.
  • Current professional nurse license issued and/or recognized by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas required.

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical specialty certification highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering leadership, direction, and resources to staff during evening, night, and weekend hours.
  • Providing leadership and oversight to all departmental employees.
  • Ensuring the delivery of optimal patient care through the coordination of clinical activities, staff supervision, personnel leadership, and department organization.
  • Assisting in filling staffing gaps due to call-ins, census surge, etc.
  • Functioning as staffing coordinator during evenings and weekends.
  • Providing coverage for coworkers in their absence or as assigned.
  • Functioning as bed access during evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinating emergency room admissions, direct admissions, and transfers while considering the census throughout the facility.
  • Allocating staff within departments, deciding how many nurses should work at a given time to maintain a high standard of care.
  • Monitoring the ebb and flow of patients throughout the organization, collecting data and making recommendations to healthcare organization leaders about ordering additional resources as needed.
  • Clearly communicating any barriers or potential barriers to Administration on Call.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing/Leadership.
