House Supervisor- Nights
About The Position

The House Supervisor is responsible for delivering leadership, direction, and resources to staff during evening, night and week-end hours. The House Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to all departmental employees. Ensures the delivery of optimal patient care through the coordination of clinical activities, staff supervision, personnel leadership, and department organization.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a House Supervisor, specifically in ICU.
- Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- BLS and ACLS from AHA required.
- Current professional nurse license issue and/or recognized by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas required.

- Clinical specialty certification highly desired.
Responsibilities
- Assists in filling any staffing gaps due to call-ins, census surge, etc.
- Functions as staffing coordinator during evenings and weekends.
- Provides coverage for coworkers in their absence or as assigned.
- Functions as bed access during evenings and weekends.
- Ability to coordinate emergency room admissions, direct admissions, and transfers while looking at census throughout facility.
- Allocate staff within departments, deciding how many nurses should work at a given time to maintain a high standard of care.
- Monitor the ebb and flow of patients throughout an organization, collecting data and making recommendations to healthcare organization leaders about ordering additional resources as needed.
- Clearly communicate any barriers or potential barriers to Administration on Call
- Any other duties as assigned by Director of Nursing/Leadership.
- Treats everyone as their customer; utilizes scripting and other tools to ensure consistency in customer service; Expresses recognition and shows appreciation to others; fully utilizes AIDET principles; responds quickly to handle requests, complaints, and questions; displays a positive attitude.
- Wears nametag properly; follows dress code policy; answers phone correctly and promptly; is prepared for meetings; meets deadlines; does not participate in gossip; acts ethically and treats others with respect; respects customer’s and co-worker’s time; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and co-workers.
- Attends staff meetings; follows HIPAA guidelines; follows patient rights policy; complies with the compliance program; demonstrates knowledge of role in a disaster; demonstrates knowledge of fire and fire drill procedures; working knowledge of hospital emergency codes; always utilizes standard precautions in the clinical setting; safely manages the environment of care by demonstrating a working knowledge of the requirements of the: Life Safety program, Utilities Management program, Hazardous Materials program, Emergency Preparedness program, Safety Management program, Medical Equipment Management program, Security Management program.
