The House Supervisor is a management position responsible for directing and coordinating patient placement and nurse staffing throughout LBMC. This role involves directing and triaging admissions and transfers, making final decisions on patient assignments to clinical units, and responding to all customer requests from patients, families, physicians, and staff. The House Supervisor resolves unusual and unplanned patient and staff problems, referring them to executive management or Risk Management if necessary. They also evaluate significant events through debriefing, data analysis, and intervention, consulting with the Director or Executive Nurse on call. In the absence of executive nursing or management, the House Supervisor acts on their behalf and responds to all hospital emergency codes, potentially acting as the Chief Nursing Officer and Incident Commander during Code Triage until relieved. The position initiates emergency policies and procedures for situations like Emergency Department saturation or lack of beds/staff for patient admissions.
