About The Position

The Harker School is seeking a part-time House Manager to support performing arts events and campus productions throughout the school year. Hours are based on the performing arts production and event schedule and will primarily include evenings and weekends. The House Manager oversees front-of-house operations, audience safety, and lobby logistics for performances and events. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming, accessible, and safe environment for patrons while coordinating and mentoring student volunteers serving as ushers and other front-of-house support.

  • Ability to remain calm and professional while resolving patron, seating, or ticketing concerns
  • Ability to communicate effectively with production staff during live performances
  • Comfortable learning and using the On The Stage ticketing system
  • Ability to respond appropriately and calmly in emergency situations

Responsibilities

  • Oversees front-of-house operations for performing arts events and campus productions
  • Supervises and provides direction to student volunteers serving as ushers, ticket scanners, and program distributors
  • Coordinates lobby setup and ensures public areas are clean, organized, and ready to welcome patrons
  • Greets and assists patrons, responds to questions, and professionally resolves seating or ticketing concerns
  • Uses On The Stage , Harker’s ticketing system, to support ticket scanning and troubleshoot ticketing issues as needed
  • Maintains headset communication with the stage manager to coordinate lobby countdowns, clear the house, and execute late-seating cues
  • Serves as the primary front-of-house point of contact for emergency procedures and audience safety
  • Ensures exits, aisles, and pathways remain clear and assists patrons with accessibility or mobility needs
  • Conducts pre- and post-show inspections of the venue and front-of-house areas
  • Completes front-of-house reports documenting attendance, incidents or concerns, and student usher attendance
  • Provides excellent customer service and creates a positive and welcoming experience for students, families, guests, and members of the Harker community
