About The Position

This is a part-time House Manager position (8-12 hours/week) located in Mill Valley, CA. The role involves maintaining household systems, light child care, meal preparation, and general organization to support a busy family of four. The family values a calm, grounded, and intentional approach to life, prioritizing quality time together. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and possesses a calm, professional demeanor with high emotional intelligence. Experience with Montessori methods is a plus. Responsibilities include managing laundry and dishes, general tidying, refreshing children's spaces, restocking supplies, light meal prep, occasional child and pet care for date nights, and resetting the yard. The role requires reliable transportation and comfort around dogs and young children. The family has two medium-sized dogs.

Responsibilities

Manage household laundry and dishes.
Perform general tidying and organizing, especially in high-traffic areas.
Refresh children's Montessori-inspired spaces.
Track and restock household items, pantry, and fridge supplies.
Perform light food prep, such as washing/chopping vegetables and packing school lunches.
Provide light child care and occasional drop-offs/pick-ups.
Provide occasional evening availability for date night childcare (twice per month).
Reset the yard, including the tennis court and children's play areas.
Wash, fold, and organize laundry and rotate linens weekly.
Maintain tidy laundry areas and track product stock.
Create and maintain household organization systems.
Perform daily resets and light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas).
Prep the home for bi-weekly housekeepers.
Break down and move boxes to the garage.
Provide light care for indoor plants (approximately once per week).
Perform light meal prep work such as washing and chopping vegetables, pre-baking prep.
Prepare healthy snacks for the family.
Pack school lunches daily.
Occasional grocery shopping as needed.
Be mindful of dietary preferences/needs (gluten-free for one parent; children are sensitive to bananas).
Kitchen clean-up and maintenance.
Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
Maintain running household supply lists.
Handle returns, dry cleaning, and occasional gift shopping.
Manage mail and package handling.
Occasional cleaning, auditing, and refreshing the fridge.
Refresh high-traffic areas such as the kids’ cubbies and downstairs landing every other week.
Rotate and organize children's toys and activities using a Montessori-inspired approach.
Provide backup pick-ups and drop-offs of the children as needed.
Light supervision and back-up childcare.
Occasional evening availability for date night coverage (approximately twice per month).
Organize and reset the family vehicles every few weeks.
Occasional walking of two friendly dogs.
Maintain updated pet supply list.
Light tidying of the large backyard and outdoor play areas.
Occasionally let in contractors or service providers.
