About The Position

We are a warm, active family in Burlingame with two school-aged children (ages 7 and 9) and a young, energetic golden retriever. Our home thrives on daily routines, and we value consistency, quality time outdoors, a safe space for play and reading, and fostering independence. Our children are energetic and curious, and our busy schedules include daily homework and after-school activities like soccer, volleyball, flag football, baseball, and swimming. We are seeking a proactive house manager to help with meal prep, household organization, and supporting our children's after-school routines. We are looking for long-term, consistent, honest, and proactive support to create and maintain meaningful systems in our home, aiming for a seamless home life that balances our busy lifestyle. The ideal candidate brings calm, grounded energy, is patient, resourceful, and naturally organized, with experience and passion for cooking/meal planning and creating household systems. They should be comfortable with our golden retriever and enjoy spending time with children, fostering their independence. We need a trustworthy, flexible, and proactive individual who can take cues from family preferences and routines, confidently taking ownership of new systems and responsibilities. This role requires initiative in meal prep (simple, fresh, batch cooking), light after-school child care support, and managing household systems. The candidate should be coachable, purpose-driven, have a big heart, understand the importance of family, and bring warmth, high emotional intelligence, and exceptional professionalism. Excellent time-management skills and the ability to anticipate needs are crucial to create a supported environment where the family doesn't need to manage or delegate tasks. Experience working with families and comfort in a private family home environment are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prep fresh, healthy meals and snacks 4 days per week for the entire family, including support for kids’ lunch prep.
  • Wash, chop, and prep fruits and vegetables for easy grab and go.
  • Batch cook and collaborate with the family on weekly meal planning.
  • Prep school lunches 4 days/week (Monday-Thursday).
  • Grocery shopping and unpacking.
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance.
  • School pick-ups Monday through Thursday (2:00 PM Mondays, 3:00 PM other days).
  • Light supervision (back-up childcare support) as needed.
  • Assist with homework and snack prep after school.
  • Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks.
  • Varying evening support for sports activities.
  • Kid-related errands as needed.
  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Daily resets and prep home for cleaners.
  • Light tidying: dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas.
  • Seasonal swaps of clothing, décor, and bedding as needed.
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs.
  • Unpacking/laundry after travel.
  • Care for a few indoor plants.
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
  • Inventory & Errands: Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target).
  • Returns, dry cleaning, and occasional gift shopping.
  • Mail and package handling.
  • Break down boxes.
  • Laundry & Linens: Wash, fold, and organize laundry.
  • Linen rotation.
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.
  • Deep Cleaning & Special Projects: Occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards).
  • Seasonal cleaning of humidifiers.
  • Organizational projects for toys, sports gear, and storage areas.
  • Vehicle Upkeep: Weekly reset and cleaning of family vehicle.
  • Vendor & Property Oversight (as needed): Oversee cleaners, contractors, and landscapers.
  • Research and coordinate repairs and quotes.
  • Light seasonal property maintenance.
  • Manage outdoor spaces.
  • Administrative & Personal Assistant Support: Travel planning and logistics.
  • Calendar management, including household and activity schedules.
  • Event and appointment coordination.
