About The Position

The House Manager is responsible for the coordination of a system of service and support that promotes independent living and maximizes the self direction of individuals with disabilities. This entails both clinical and management support responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Psychology, Sociology, Rehabilitation Counseling, Special Education, Recreation and/or 2 + years of experience in Social Work or related field.
  • Possession of a valid Massachusetts Driver’s License and access to a vehicle/safe driving record in accordance with WORK INC policy.
  • An acceptable CORI and SDIP.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, ability to create and interpret graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical data in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • The ability to read, analyze and interpret journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • The ability to respond to common inquiries of complaints.
  • The ability to effectively present information to the Board of Directors, employees, clients and members of the business community.
  • Good standing balance, defined as the ability to stand and walk without a loss of balance.
  • Full upper extremity range of motion defined as the ability to obtain: Full shoulder flexion, extension, abduction, and rotation. Full elbow flexion, extension, supination and pronation. Full wrist flexion, extension, radial and ulnar deviation.
  • Normal upper extremity strength defined as the ability to move the specified body part through a full range of motion against maximum resistance.
  • Full lower extremity range of motion defined as the ability to obtain: Full hip flexion, extension, abduction, adduction and rotation. Full knee flexion and extension. Full ankle flexion and extension.
  • Normal lower extremity strength defined as the ability to move the specified body part through a full range of motion against maximum resistance.
  • Full trunk range of motion as defined by the ability to obtain full flexion and extension, rotation and side bending.
  • Full cervical range of motion as defined by the ability to obtain full flexion and extension, lateral flexion and rotation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides case management services to all individuals in the residence.
  • Designs and implements clinical interventions and educational programs.
  • Oversees services of psychologists nursing consultant and MD’s.
  • Assists in the development of maximum independence, responsibility and self-worth
  • Helps individuals become contributing members of their communities
  • Assists people to express their cultural/ethnic heritage
  • Creates opportunities for people to form relationships with non-disabled individuals
  • Supports people to maintain positive relationships with significant members of their family.
  • Secures appropriate assistive technology.
  • Integration of Quality of Life ideals into daily management and future program development.
  • Participates in the selection and training of new staff.
  • Administers medication according to the DPH regulations (MAP) and maintaining certification to administer First Aid and CPR when indicated.
  • Obtains Human Rights Officer and the Fire Safety Officer certifications.
  • Participates in the referral process and integrating new individuals.
  • Assesses peoples’ independent living skills.
  • Develop training programs that help people become more independent.
  • Preparation, participation and implementation of DMR individual service plans, monthly progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Collection of necessary data to demonstrate the effectiveness of training programs/goals.
  • Assures that all records are complete and up-to-date.
  • Provides guidance and support to people so that they can grow through life experiences.
  • Provides for the safety of individuals, including administering self-preservation tests and instructing individuals in fire prevention and evacuation procedures.
  • Meets regularly with individuals vocational case manager, family, therapist, and other support staff to assure coordinated and consistent support.
  • Participates in DMR Quality Assurance (QUEST) reviews and CARF accreditation survey.
  • Assessment of individuals needs for supportive services and making referrals to the appropriate agency, as necessary.
  • Maintaining monthly contact to assure coordination and follow through.
  • Provides for the appropriate health care, including attention to medical and dental needs and nutritional requirements, including menu planning and nutritional training.
  • Assists in using community resources and developing neighborhood relationships including Planning and implementation of recreational activities.
  • Conducts weekly house meetings.
  • Attends in-service training programs.
  • Informs people of their human rights in a manner that is understandable to them.
  • Reports any problems to the Human Rights Officer and/or Director of Residential Services
  • Conducts regular staff meetings as determined by the Residential Department.
  • Attends and addresses emergency and crisis situations.
  • Responsible for securing and obtaining recertification for all eligible benefits for the individuals including food stamps/Sec. 8/HUD subsidies.
  • Cleans and maintains the facility and grounds as assigned including necessary snow removal.
  • Responsible for maintaining and recording accurate individual/financial records in accordance with WORK INC/DMR regulations.
  • Maintains all required adaptive equipments in the program in good working condition. These include but not limited to following equipments:
  • Responsible for maintaining all manual and electric wheel chairs in good working condition.
  • Responsible for maintaining all types of adaptive lifts aiding individual’s mobility in good working condition.
  • Responsible for maintaining all types of shower chairs in good working condition.
  • Responsible for maintaining all electric and manual hospital beds in good working condition.
  • Maintenance of Program vehicles.
  • Responsible for regular maintenance and seasonal maintenance of the vehicles.
  • Responsible for reporting accidents involving program vehicles to WORK INC transportation Dept (PMSI) in timely manner and making arrangements to get necessary repairs done.
  • Provides and maintains training, advocacy and materials for Disaster Management.
  • Adheres to budgets and submit timely and accurate records.
  • Maintains positive relations with the neighbors and general community.
  • Assists in development of program goals and objectives, based on individual and family satisfaction surveys and outcome data.
  • Creates, reviews and implements staffing schedule.
  • Reviews staff’s time sheets and completing regular payroll.
  • Arranges relief coverage for vacant direct care positions and/or work vacant shifts if necessary.
  • Provides on call 24hrs emergency program coverage.
  • Works 2 or more days during evening hours per week.
