About The Position

We are a family of five with three active children (ages 11, 9, and 7) who are involved in sports, music, and other extracurricular activities. Both parents work full-time in client-facing roles, and the husband travels frequently for work. We are looking for a highly proactive, organized, and detail-oriented House Manager to support us with household management, meal preparation, and scheduling/logistics. The ideal candidate will be flexible, independent, and able to anticipate the family's needs. We value excellent communication, initiative, and someone who sees our home with a mother's eye. Note, this position will not be the primary childcare provider, but will be expected to coordinate with the au pair.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys).
  • Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, garage, mudroom).
  • Maintain tidy kitchen and high traffic areas (declutter, wipe surfaces, sweep/vacuum)
  • Maintain indoor plants (weekly watering).
  • Take out kitchen trash/compost; take out and pull in trash cans.
  • Wash, dry, fold, and organize family laundry (clothing, bedding, towels)
  • Manage household linens: cleaning, folding and putting away bedding, changing hand towels
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies.
  • Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, and household supplies.
  • Manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.) and handle deliveries.
  • Run errands including grocery shopping, returns, dry cleaning, birthday gift shopping, etc..
  • Handle package pickup, mail sorting, and deliveries.
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and pickups.
  • Schedule and oversee vehicle maintenance (oil changes, inspections).
  • Help with occasional car service appointments, car washes, cleaning and organizing
  • Provide support with packing and unpacking for trips and weekends to the family’s second home.
  • Conduct seasonal swaps (clothing, décor, bedding, etc.) and track necessary purchases.
  • Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards).
  • Organize special projects: toy storage, seasonal decorations, gear rotation.
  • Help with kids’ memory projects or artwork collection.
  • Help prepare for family events, holidays, and guest stays as needed.
  • Manage household schedules and calendars, ensuring events and activities are coordinated efficiently especially related to the kids’ activities. Highlight conflicts as they arise.
  • Assist with coordination of appointments (e.g. dental, doctor, etc.) and events.
  • Coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g., housekeeper, au pair, handymen, etc.).
  • Plan and prepare healthy meals for the family.
  • Batch-cook healthy meals, 3-4 dinners per week (Monday-Thursday), focusing on variety, protein and vegetable-forward meals.
  • Grocery shopping for all meal-related items.
  • Coordinate grocery shopping list with au pair who is responsible for making breakfast and lunch for the kids.
  • Clean the kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness.
  • Potential for occasional back-up childcare, but this position is not the primary childcare provider.
