About The Position

We are a busy, active family of four based in Dedham, MA, seeking a proactive, self-directed, and exceptionally organized House Manager & Family Assistant. This part-time role (22-30 hours per week) will primarily focus on managing the morning routine, providing childcare support, meal preparation, and household organization. The ideal candidate will seamlessly integrate into our family's rhythm, taking the lead on daily tasks so the parents can be more present with their children. Responsibilities include managing children's schedules, preparing meals and lunches, maintaining household organization, running errands, and basic pet care. We are looking for someone who is warm, good with children of varying ages and energy levels, trustworthy, and takes initiative. This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation (a family vehicle will be provided for work use), and comfort in a home with a dog. Candidates must be authorized to work in the US and willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification. We also require candidates to be up-to-date on recommended vaccinations.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full morning routine, including getting children fed, dressed, hair done, bags packed, and out the door on time.
  • School drop-offs and pickups, including bus coordination.
  • Transport children to any after-school activities.
  • Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks daily; unpack at end of day.
  • Supervise and engage with children in between school hours with age-appropriate activities.
  • Help build and maintain a memory box system for children's artwork and school keepsakes.
  • Maintain household organization systems and create new ones where needed.
  • Daily resets: dishes, surfaces, making beds, vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Prep home for 2x monthly house cleaner visits.
  • Seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps.
  • Coordinate and prepare donation drop-offs.
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel.
  • Prep and pack school lunches daily.
  • Prepare simple healthy dinners for the children nightly.
  • Prepare family dinners approximately 2x per week (freshly made or oven-ready).
  • Grocery shopping as needed; contribute to and maintain household grocery and supply lists.
  • Follow household dietary needs and sensitivities.
  • Kitchen clean-up and daily maintenance.
  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry.
  • Maintain children's linen rotation.
  • Keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Manage running household supply lists.
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.).
  • Handle returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping, mail, and packages.
  • Break down and remove boxes.
  • Walk family dog once daily as needed.
  • Schedule/attend vet and grooming appointments.
  • Schedule maintenance for family vehicles.
  • Fuel and clean family vehicles as needed.
  • Track vehicle registration/insurance.
  • Seasonal refresh of mudroom and entry areas.
  • Clean humidifiers and air purifiers in winter months.
  • Weekly toy, book, and gear rotation and organizational projects.
  • Coordinate irrigation system seasonal turn-on and turn-off.
  • Manage household calendar, children's schedules, and appointment coordination.
  • Travel planning and logistics on occasion.
  • Track receipts and expenses incurred in the role.
