About The Position

This is a part-time House Manager / Family Assistant role for a busy household in Arden Hills, MN. The position involves 15-20 hours per week, with a guaranteed 15 hours. The ideal schedule is two weekdays per week, with Fridays as the anchor day and Tuesdays preferred, though some flexibility is available. The role supports a family with two young children, including a toddler and a newborn, whose parents work demanding careers. The family values honesty, reliability, and kindness, and seeks someone to fill operational gaps in their home. The role requires maintaining and evolving household organization systems, providing light childcare support, managing laundry, running errands, and assisting with meal preparation. Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Reliable personal transportation (mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Maintain a smoke-free environment, and be free from the odor of tobacco, marijuana, smoke-related substances while performing job duties
  • Maintain a fragrance-free presence (no strong perfumes or scents)
  • Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including Tdap and MMR), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
  • CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to obtain prior to start date
  • Comfortable working alongside and providing backup care for young children, including newborns

  • Experience with newborns or infants is a meaningful plus.
  • Awareness of macros a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occasional backup transportation for school pickups and drop-offs, primarily when a parent is traveling.
  • Light childcare supervision and backup care as needed.
  • Pack and unpack for children (and accompanying gear) for family travel.
  • Perform daily resets: load and unload dishwasher, wipe down surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, etc.
  • Prep home for the weekly Thursday cleaner.
  • Maintain and evolve existing household organization systems.
  • Manage seasonal clothing transitions as kids grow: sort, store, and coordinate donation drop-offs for outgrown items.
  • Rotate and organize toys and books for the younger child as seasonally and developmentally appropriate.
  • Assist with occasional holiday decor takedown and storage.
  • Support preparation for hosting guests (overnight or events) as occasionally requested.
  • Periodically deep clean fridge, oven, and baseboards.
  • Regularly clean and maintain humidifiers and air purifiers.
  • Own ongoing organization and maintenance of mudroom and other hotspots for clutter throughout the home.
  • Collaborate with family to manage grocery and household supply orders or in-store shopping as needed.
  • Track household and baby supply inventory to prevent running low on essentials.
  • Run miscellaneous errands as requested (e.g. occasional returns).
  • Bring in packages and break down boxes for recycling.
  • Batch-prep proteins (slow cooker chicken, salmon, etc.) for adults to pull from throughout the week.
  • Process and chop produce as groceries arrive.
  • Batch-prep breakfasts and lunches in advance for adults (overnight oats and similar).
  • Prep lunch ingredients for the toddler (chopped and ready to pack); snacks prepped and ready for after-school.
  • Manage laundry for all family members: wash, dry, fold, and put away.
  • Wash and rotate linens and towels on a regular cadence.
  • Keep laundry area tidy and well-stocked with supplies.
