House Manager & Family Assistant
About The Position
This is a part-time House Manager & Family Assistant role in Redondo Beach, CA, requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week over 3-4 days, with Tuesdays and Thursdays being mandatory. The role involves supporting a busy, active family with two young children and a senior dog. The primary goal is to help maintain household organization and support family routines, allowing parents to spend more quality time with their children. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, reliable, and comfortable managing household tasks and assisting with children's needs independently. Responsibilities include laundry, meal preparation, light supervision/backup childcare, household organization, errands, pet care, and occasional deep cleaning projects.
Requirements
- Must maintain a smoke-free environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record required
- Must reside within approximately 30 minutes of the Redondo Beach area.
- Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines (including COVID-19 and influenza), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
- Must be comfortable and enjoy working around young children and a senior dog.
Nice To Haves
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Washing, folding, and organizing laundry on a regular basis
- Keeping the laundry area tidy and fully stocked
- Linen rotation as needed
- Ironing/steaming as needed
- Prepare approximately 3 dinners per week following family dietary preferences
- Prepare school snacks/drinks for children as needed
- Complete grocery shopping, kitchen clean-up, and maintenance
- Provide light supervision and back-up childcare
- Packing and unpacking for kids' travel
- Prepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks
- Extracurricular activity transport as needed
- Afternoon school pickup and drop-off as needed
- Occasional backup childcare coverage for date nights or schedule gaps
- Maintain household organizational systems and daily resets
- Light tidying, dishwasher unloading, and light vacuuming in high-traffic areas
- Keep the home in good shape between house cleaner visits
- Dog waste pickup in the backyard on a regular basis
- Assist with seasonal or holiday setup as needed
- Pantry, fridge, and household supply restocking; maintain a running supply list
- Occasional donation drop-offs, returns, dry cleaning, and gift shopping
- Mail and package handling, including bringing packages in and breaking down boxes
- Feed the family's senior dog and let her out in the backyard
- Occasional scheduling of vet or groomer appointments and pet supply ordering as needed
- Occasional deep cleaning of fridge, oven, microwave, and baseboards as time allows
- Garage, entryway, toy room, and closet organization projects as needed
- Clean humidifiers and air purifiers as needed
