About The Position

We are a busy, close-knit family of four seeking a trusted and capable House Manager & Family Assistant to help keep our household running smoothly. This role is designed to bridge the gap between morning routines and evening calm, focusing on maintaining household order, preparing meal components, managing laundry, and assisting with various organizational and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and takes pride in creating a more relaxed and efficient home environment. While formal house management experience is not required, strong judgment, initiative, and dependability are essential. This position is part-time, offering flexible daytime hours during the week.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle.
  • Comfortable with dogs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily resets including tidying dishes, wiping surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas.
  • Maintain and improve household organization systems.
  • Prepare the home before the weekly cleaner arrives.
  • Manage seasonal swaps for clothing, bedding, and décor.
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs and manage household clutter.
  • Handle packages, including receiving, opening, putting away, and breaking down boxes.
  • Manage returns and perform occasional household errands.
  • Replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detector batteries as needed.
  • Coordinate with and be available for contractor visits and appliance service appointments.
  • Perform seasonal outdoor upkeep such as tidying the patio and clearing leaves.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Maintain a running household supply list.
  • Manage household orders and subscriptions and handle deliveries.
  • Prep dinner components 2-3 times per week (chopping, shredding, marinating).
  • Prepare healthy ready-to-go snacks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Manage full laundry cycles: washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothing.
  • Perform weekly linen rotation.
  • Keep the laundry area tidy and stocked.
  • Provide occasional backup support for the family dog.
  • Coordinate grooming appointments for the dog.
  • Restock pet food and supplies as needed.
  • Perform occasional deep cleans of areas like the fridge, oven, baseboards, garage, mudroom, and entryway.
  • Undertake organizational projects such as kids' toy areas and seasonal clothing rotations.
  • Provide light backup childcare for occasional date nights, PA days, or during parent meetings.
  • Prep kids' backpacks, clothing, and snacks as needed.
  • Support with kid-related errands.
  • Manage the family calendar.
  • Coordinate appointments and events.
  • Track receipts and errand expenses.
