About The Position

This is a part-time House Manager and Family Assistant role for an active, on-the-go household in San Jose. The role focuses on maintaining the day-to-day flow of the home, keeping things running smoothly, and ensuring the house feels reset and welcoming. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can manage household organization, run errands, provide meal support, handle laundry, care for a dog, and assist with family administrative tasks. The family already has a weekly housecleaner, so this position is less about deep cleaning and more about proactive organization and maintaining order.

Requirements

  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Must maintain a smoke-free environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Comfortable working in a home with a dog (French Bulldog).
  • Experience supporting an active family with multiple schedules is a plus.
  • A love of dogs is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a home reset and tidy on each visit: vacuum high-traffic areas, wipe down counters, load/unload dishes, take out trash, and leave the home fresh and prepared for the weekly housecleaner on Tuesdays.
  • Oversee the overall organization and daily flow of a family home.
  • Create and maintain household organization systems (pantry, closets, and other ad hoc projects).
  • Refresh outdoor/patio and yard areas as needed.
  • Perform monthly fridge deep-clean and refresh.
  • Replace batteries and light bulbs as needed; keep rechargeable lights charged.
  • Manage home maintenance needs, vendor coordination, and follow-up.
  • Refill scent diffusers on a regular schedule.
  • Complete ad hoc organizational projects including clothing purges and storage reorganization.
  • Monitor and restock household supplies, pantry items, and the fridge on a regular basis.
  • Audit and streamline existing household subscriptions to avoid overstock and gaps (e.g., cleaning supplies, household staples).
  • Run weekly errands as needed: grocery runs, returns, dry cleaning drop-off, and occasional gift shopping.
  • Keep dog food consistently stocked.
  • Support meal plan and prep two dinners per week, particularly on evenings when the kids are home.
  • Wash, prep, and stock healthy snacks for active young athletes.
  • Manage weekly laundry for the parent of the household, including washing, folding, steaming as needed, and putting away.
  • Unpack suitcases after travel and refresh travel bags; launder monthly.
  • Provide love and attention to the family's French Bulldog during visits.
  • Wash dog beds approximately once a month.
  • Help track and organize the kids' activity schedules, sports practices, and school events onto one family calendar.
  • Support the overall administrative flow of a household with active, schedule-heavy kids.
