Esme Hotel - Hourly Engineer
About The Position
The Hourly Engineer is responsible for ensuring high-quality work on all tasks, maintaining equipment, the building, and grounds in perfect condition. This role assists in maximizing the efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness of the Engineering Department. The engineer must be flexible to rotate within different sections of the Engineering Department or other hotel departments as assigned. They must be fully aware of all services and facilities offered by the hotel, keep their workspace and surrounding areas clean and organized, and monitor operating supplies to reduce spoilage and wastage. Handling guest and employee inquiries courteously and efficiently, reporting complaints or problems to supervisors, and ensuring follow-up are key aspects of this role. The engineer must ensure all assigned tasks are completed with high-quality workmanship within the assigned timeframe. Specific duties include maintaining and repairing mechanical and plumbing fixtures, fire prevention systems, hot and cold water supply systems, and sewage systems. Timely completion of maintenance requests, especially guest-related and front-of-house jobs, is crucial.
Requirements

- Must be able to carry 60 lbs.
- Ability to use various power and hand tools very efficiently and actively.
- Follow oral or written instructions if it is needed.
- Good practical and technical skills.
- An understanding of engineering drawings and principles.
- The ability to work quickly and under pressure.
- Fluency in job related English both verbal and non-verbal.
- The ability to manage a varied workload.
- An awareness of health and safety legislation.
Responsibilities
- Ensure high quality of work for all tasks.
- Keep equipment, building, and grounds in perfect conditions.
- Assist in maximizing efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness of the Engineering Department.
- Be entirely flexible and adapt to rotate within the different sections of the Engineering Department and/or any other Department of the hotel as assigned.
- Be fully conversant with all services and facilities offered by the hotel.
- Ensure that the Place of Work and surrounding area is kept clean and organized at all times.
- Monitor operating supplies and reduce spoilage and wastage.
- Handle guest and employee inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner and report complaints or problems to supervisors if no immediate solution can be found and assure follow up with the respective persons.
- Ensure that workmanship for all assigned tasks are of the high quality and that these tasks are completed in the assigned time frame.
- Maintain and repair all mechanical and plumbing fixtures and fittings.
- Inspect, clean, maintain and repair all installations pertaining to fire fighting, sprinkler and other fire prevention systems.
- Inspect, clean, maintain and repair hot and cold water supply systems, including classifiers and heat exchangers.
- Inspect, clean, maintain and repair sewage systems, pumps, aerator installations and related equipment.
- Ensure timely completion of maintenance requests paying particular attention to guest related jobs and front of the house jobs.
