About The Position

Childhelp is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hotline Counselor to join our National Child Abuse Hotline team. In this role, you'll provide crucial crisis intervention, education, and resource information to help-seekers contacting us via call, text, or chat. You'll be instrumental in creating action plans using our evidence-informed practice model, addressing critical issues such as child abuse, family conflict, domestic violence, and mental health concerns.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience working with family violence and/or child abuse.
  • Strong understanding of laws and regulations surrounding physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, child abuse, neglect, and legal reporting requirements.
  • Ability to successfully complete Hotline Counselor training and pass all competency assessments.
  • Must meet all job expectations, including successful completion of the counselor assessment, within the first 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide empathetic and undivided attention to help-seekers through phone calls, texts, and live chats, understanding their immediate needs and developing brief action plans.
  • Accurately and completely enter relevant data into our Hotline database in a timely manner, and report information to authorities when legally required.
  • Stay current on all laws, regulations, policies, and practices related to child abuse and neglect, ensuring adherence to confidentiality, ethical guidelines, and contractual obligations.
  • Attend staff meetings, complete required trainings, and actively participate in team discussions to identify effective approaches and interventions.
  • Engage in reflective supervision to continuously improve your skills.
