About The Position

Onix Hospitality is seeking a Hotel Maintenance Director to join their team at the Hampton Inn Chadds Ford. With over 20 years of experience, Onix Hospitality manages eight award-winning hotels in the Mid-Atlantic region and Florida, serving over half a million customers annually. The Hotel Maintenance Director will be responsible for the overall maintenance, operation, and functionality of the hotel's physical plant and engineering systems. This is a hands-on position that requires working shifts, including weekends, holidays, and availability for emergency call-ins.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in hotel maintenance or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Knowledge of building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, lift, and/or carry minimum of 50lbs. a minimum of 5 ft. in distance.
  • Requires reaching overhead, climbing, crouching, and twisting.
  • Must be reliable and willing to work long hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the maintenance staff, managing projects, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Interviewing, training, supervising, counseling, scheduling, and evaluating staff.
  • Assuming the Manager on Duty role in the event of lesser superior management presence.
  • Directly responsible for the maintenance and operation of all the equipment on the property site and the building structure itself, including refrigeration and air conditioning, fire alarm system, boilers, primary and secondary power systems, and emergency generators.
  • Responsible for the aesthetics of the exterior and interior of the building, continuously evaluating remodeling projects.
  • Scheduling labor and material for remodeling and refurbishing projects.
  • Periodically train new and current employees while having the ability to coach and give constructive feedback.
  • Implementing policies and procedures to ensure energy conservation throughout the hotel.
  • Conducting department meetings/training on a regular basis in conjunction with Onix Hospitality's standards and Brand standards including maintenance techniques and safe use of cleaning products.
  • Ensuring that Onix Hospitality’s standards and Brand standards are met in all physical areas of the hotel including outside the building.
  • Monitoring compliance with state building codes and regulations, OSHA safety codes and adherence to Fire Department standards of safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Cooperating with all Department Heads, setting up departmental meetings, supervisory meetings and internal departmental meetings.
  • Monitoring any new construction.
  • Interacting as necessary with designers, architects, contractors, and public utilities, the Fire Department, Health Department, insurance agencies, and OSHA.
  • Working with Department Heads in preparing budgets.
  • Preparing new work orders for construction projects, as well as monitoring requisitioned supplies and equipment for the Maintenance and Engineering Departments.
  • Coordinating hotel emergency procedures, in conjunction with General Manager.
  • Developing an effective emergency plan for the hotel.
  • Conducting drills with staff.
  • Training staff on the operation of emergency systems and equipment.
  • Training all MOD's on emergency procedures, equipment, water and electrical shutoff etc.
  • Scheduling regular inspection and maintenance of all emergency equipment (kitchen hood extinguisher, fire extinguisher, alarm systems etc.).
  • Confers closely with the General Manager and takes every opportunity to become familiar with all aspects of the hotel to assist guests wherever required.
  • Keeping General Manager promptly informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
