About The Position

The Front Desk Supervisor is in a visible role and provides an outstanding guest experience via overseeing the hotel front desk operations. This role ensures guests’ expectations are consistently met and exceeded. The Front Desk Supervisor reports to the Hotel Manager and Assistant Manager, acts as duty manager when required, and liaises frequently with all Hotel, Service, Administration, Security and Operations teams.

Requirements

  • Passion for providing outstanding guest service.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office products, PMS (Maestro or similar), and online employee systems.
  • Effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally, and in a confidential capacity.
  • Must be able to provide a valid driver’s licence and clean, current driver’s abstract prior to start of role.
  • Maintain professional conduct when acting as a company representative and leader, on and off duty.
  • Willing and able to perform all duties and department tasks.
  • Proven ability to lead a team, self-motivated, possessing good time management skills.
  • Positive, mature, and friendly attitude, along with being neat, alert, punctual, and dependable.
  • Calm under pressure and patient.
  • Employees must always be of a sound mind, exhibit good judgment, and report to work fit for duty.
  • This position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, occasional heavy lifting, and good mobility in an upper alpine environment.
  • This position deals with confidential, personal information. Discretion and adherence to best privacy practices are required at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous front desk (~3 years) and supervisory experience (~1 year) is preferred.
  • Valid CPR and First aid is an asset, but not required.
  • This role completes training and testing for operating on-hill tracked vehicles and may complete snowmobile training.
  • Some required uniform pieces are provided. Candidates must be prepared and wear appropriate footwear, gloves, layers, etc. for the conditions of an indoor role at a ski area.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all duties and responsibilities of a Front Desk Agent and overseeing the work and actions of the Front Desk team, maintaining excellent guest service and high operating standards.
  • Training the Front Desk team on systems and standard operating procedures, along with cross-utilization and training with the Bell Desk, Night Audit, Housekeeping, and SML Activity teams (becoming fully knowledgeable and able to assist in SML department procedures, at any time).
  • Answering questions, resolving concerns/complaints, taking an active role in guest recovery.
  • Developing and maintaining positive, respectful working relationships with team, and other departments.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, ambiance, service, and health and safety.
  • Timely completion of documentation, e.g. check-ins/outs, reservations, employee training, guest folios, cash-outs, scheduled and on-the-spot inspections, checklists.
  • Conducting regular inventory, ensuring supplies are well-stocked.
  • Maintaining effective schedules and properly assigning work to meet business needs.
  • Conducting performance reviews, providing support, coaching, feedback and corrective action, where necessary.
  • Adhering to and ensuring staff follow company standards, e.g. Employee Handbook, Grooming Policy.
  • Timely and accurate reporting of incidents, deficiencies, and unusual conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Other duties may be requested and assigned from time to time.
