About The Position

The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of all hotel facilities, equipment, and building systems. This role leads the Engineering team, ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, manages preventative maintenance programs, and supports the delivery of exceptional guest experience through the efficient operation of the property.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of engineering or facilities management experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.
  • Leadership experience managing maintenance teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and emergency situations.
  • Capable of using all necessary systems and platforms needed to complete RPM/EPM and FLS.
  • Willing to obtain any licenses or certifications required to perform the Engineering Manager role.
  • Must have the ability to communicate in English.
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition.
  • Can communicate well with guests.
  • Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
  • Must be able to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly.
  • Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily engineering and maintenance operations.
  • Manage preventative maintenance programs for guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
  • Oversee repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Coordinate vendor and contractor activities and monitor service quality.
  • Maintain engineering budgets, inventory, and purchasing controls.
  • Support hotel renovation, capital improvement, and pre-opening projects as needed.
  • Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests.
  • Recruit, train, and develop engineering team members.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
