About The Position

The Hotel Chief Engineer oversees the day-to-day operations of the hotel engineering department at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Draper. The role supervises, develops, and maintains the hotel’s ongoing maintenance operations and supports departmental goals and company standards. The position is full-time and typically works AM hours, Monday through Friday, subject to hotel needs. After-hours on-call availability is required when issues arise, including availability nights and weekends. Salary is based on experience.

Requirements

At least 3 years of Chief Engineer experience or 5 years of Assistant Chief Engineer or Engineering Supervisor experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Availability for after-hours on-call needs, including nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual Spanish and English skills.
Technical certifications in electrical, plumbing, or other related fields.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations of the hotel engineering department, including training, mentoring, counseling, and disciplining colleagues.
Attain hotel and departmental goals while adhering to company standards.
Supervise, develop, and maintain ongoing hotel maintenance operations, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, guest rooms, HVAC units, ice machines, pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, and electrical substations.
Respond to or perform groundskeeping duties, including snow removal.
Order tools, parts, and materials, and manage inventory.
Maintain maintenance records and accurate tracking of operating expenses and capital items.
Prepare the annual maintenance budget.
Provide after-hours on-call availability when hotel issues arise, including nights and weekends.
