About The Position

The Hotel Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing banquet operations, ensuring all event details are accurately executed and guest satisfaction is maintained. This role involves coordinating with various departments, managing staff, and directly participating in service when necessary. The captain ensures that room setups, service, and breakdown are completed according to banquet event orders and hotel standards.

  • Skill in verifying room set-ups against event orders.
  • Capability to communicate with group representatives.
  • Proficiency in communicating changes to relevant departments.
  • Experience in coordinating banquet staff and schedules.
  • Ability to verify and adjust staffing levels.
  • Willingness to perform banquet server duties.
  • Attention to detail in inspecting banquet areas post-function.
  • Ability to post banquet checks and turn them in.
  • Compliance with attendance rules.
  • Availability to work on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Check server and houseperson banquet event orders for accuracy.
  • Verify room set-up against banquet event order directions and ensure public areas are neat and clean.
  • Liaise with group representatives, explaining contact procedures during functions.
  • Communicate banquet event order changes to relevant offices and departments.
  • Coordinate set-ups, changes, and time schedules for all functions with banquet staff.
  • Verify staffing levels for upcoming functions and adjust schedules by adding or canceling servers, bartenders, or housepersons.
  • Perform banquet server duties, including set-up, guest greeting, serving, and breakdown.
  • Inspect banquet areas post-function to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
  • Post banquet checks at the end of the day and submit them to Night Audit.
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
