About The Position

The Hotel Banquet Captain is responsible for overseeing banquet events, ensuring all details from the event orders are met, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of banquet areas. This role involves direct interaction with clients and staff, coordinating event execution, and performing hands-on service when necessary. The captain also manages staffing schedules and ensures all post-event procedures are completed accurately.

Requirements

  • Ability to check server and houseperson banquet event orders for accuracy.
  • Skill in verifying room set-ups against banquet event order directions.
  • Capability to ensure public areas are neat and clean.
  • Experience in making contact with group representatives and explaining contact procedures.
  • Proficiency in communicating banquet event order changes to relevant departments.
  • Competence in coordinating with banquet staff for set-ups, changes, and schedules.
  • Ability to verify and adjust staffing levels for servers, bartenders, and housepersons.
  • Willingness to operate as a banquet server, including set-up, greeting, serving, and breakdown.
  • Capacity to inspect banquet areas post-function for equipment return and cleanliness.
  • Skill in posting banquet checks and turning them in to Night Audit.
  • Adherence to attendance rules and availability for regular work.

Responsibilities

  • Check banquet event orders for accuracy regarding servers and housepersons.
  • Verify room set-ups align with banquet event order specifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness and neatness of all public areas.
  • Liaise with group representatives and inform them of contact procedures during functions.
  • Communicate any changes to banquet event orders to relevant offices and departments.
  • Coordinate with banquet staff on set-ups, changes, and time schedules for all functions.
  • Review and adjust staffing levels for upcoming functions by adding or canceling servers, bartenders, and housepersons.
  • Serve as a banquet server when required, including set-up, guest greeting, service, and breakdown.
  • Inspect banquet areas post-function to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
  • Post all banquet checks at the end of the day and submit them to Night Audit.
  • Comply with attendance policies and be available for regular work.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
