About The Position

The Hotel and Casino Engineer is responsible for responding to guest repair requests, maintaining the upkeep and safety of the property, and performing preventive maintenance on various equipment. This role requires the ability to work with a variety of tools and equipment, a basic understanding of different maintenance categories, and the capacity to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position also involves interacting with guests and team members, working in a fast-paced environment, and being able to handle exposure to second-hand smoke and high noise levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • General maintenance experience, preferably from a hotel.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to second-hand smoke and high noise levels.
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and consistently meet deadlines with internal and external customers and contacts.
  • Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with guests, management, other team members, and outside contacts.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of time to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors and be exposed to various environmental factors.
  • Display basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building.

Responsibilities

  • Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
  • Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Maintain the upkeep and safety of the property.
  • Use material handling equipment, forklifts, carts, electric and hand-operated digging, demolition, and cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Assist in the wet cleaning of internal and external water features.
  • Work in the tool room.
  • Assist all trades and crafts with routine and emergency work assignments.
  • Haul, lift, and transport building materials, supplies, equipment, filters, furniture, and gaming tables.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
  • Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio).
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and all utility shut-offs for buildings.
  • Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance work.
  • Perform repairs on interior and exterior landscaping as well as external landscaping sprinklers.
  • Input air handler schedules and make temperature changes using basic computer skills.
  • Work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.
