About The Position

The Hot Prep Cook prepares hot food items for patient and non-patient food services, following production plans and recipes assigned by the Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, or Production Leader. The position is in the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies Food and Nutrition Department and is listed as full-time with a varying shift.

Requirements

Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to respond to common customer inquiries or complaints.
Six months of fast-food production or kitchen food-production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare hot food items for patient and non-patient food services according to assigned production plans and recipes.
Assist with tray assembly and preparation of special-diet needs, including puréed meals and supplements, as well as non-patient services.
Use basic food preparation techniques for receiving, storing, preparing, and holding food items.
Follow food-service sanitation practices, infection-control procedures, and applicable HACCP guidelines.
Communicate relevant patient, non-patient, and department needs to the Executive Chef, Food & Nutrition Supervisor, Group Leaders, and food-service peers.
Help in other kitchen areas as needed, including cold prep, bakery, storeroom, café serving line, dish room, and tray line.
Maintain reasonably regular and punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
Comply with Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Participate in monthly departmental AQ/QI activities and related services.
Observe departmental rules and regulations.
Follow proper portion controls and menu preparation procedures.
Perform cold-food preparation duties when necessary and follow universal precautions applicable to food services.
Prepare meat-roasting charts, temperature logs, leftover logs, and other records as needed.
