About The Position
Hiroki‑San is an immersive, soulful Japanese dining experience located inside Detroit’s iconic and beautifully restored Book Tower. Rooted in tradition, technique, and a deep respect for Japanese culinary culture, Hiroki‑San blends the precision of classic Japanese cooking with a contemporary, design‑driven atmosphere. The menu highlights the finest Japanese ingredients—many flown in weekly from Tokyo’s Toyosu Market—and showcases both traditional and modern preparations. The beverage program mirrors this dedication to craft, featuring cocktails built around single ingredients, curated sake pairings, and premium Japanese whiskies.
Requirements
- 1+ year of experience in a host, guest services, or front‑of‑house role (upscale or high‑volume preferred)
- Strong communication skills and a polished, professional presence
- Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast‑paced environment
- Warm, guest‑focused demeanor with a genuine passion for hospitality
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with reservation platforms (Resy, OpenTable, or similar) is a plus
Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome guests with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and seating assignments to ensure smooth service flow
- Maintain an organized host stand and uphold the visual standards of the entry area
- Communicate effectively with the service team to support pacing and guest experience
- Escort guests to tables and provide menus, highlighting any notable features or offerings
- Answer phone calls, assist with inquiries, and provide accurate information about the restaurant
- Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues with grace and efficiency
- Uphold all safety, sanitation, and service standards
