About The Position

The Host position is responsible for greeting and welcoming customers, managing seating arrangements, handling phone calls and to-go orders, and ensuring guest satisfaction. This role also involves assisting with front-of-house duties such as cleaning and organizing, as well as some back-of-house tasks like packaging to-go orders and preparing drinks. The ideal candidate will have superior customer service and communication skills, be able to read and write in English, possess good mathematical skills, and have the dexterity to manage a cash box. They must also be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.

Responsibilities

  • Suggesting new menu items from limited time offerings.
  • Cleaning, completing side work, and organizing supplies as needed.
  • Proactively assisting other team members without being asked.
  • Providing total guest satisfaction.
  • Greeting and welcoming all customers immediately upon arrival and verifying the number in their party.
  • Determining special needs, e.g., high-chairs, special menus.
  • Seating customers at tables/booths appropriate for their needs and those of the restaurant and introducing feature of the day.
  • Keeping hostess area stocked and clean, e.g., to-go items and bakery products.
  • Handling incoming telephone calls immediately and taking to go orders as appropriate.
  • Maintaining proper supply of clean menus.
  • Periodically supplying customers with initial beverage suggestions and providing beverage order and refills.
  • Resolving complaints as he/she becomes aware of them, notifying the manager of any complaints received.
  • Collecting payment from customers immediately, in accordance with established cash handling procedures, inquiring about food/service satisfaction and handling customer complaints/suggestions appropriately.
  • Bussing and cleaning guest tables in the dining room.
  • Delivering trays of dirty dishware to dish-room and stocking service area with clean dishware.
  • Packaging To-Go orders ensuring 100% accuracy with food, beverages, and accompaniments.
  • Completing the sign off process on all To-Go receipts.
  • Expediting Dine-In orders ensuring 100% accuracy and proper positioning of food on the service trays.
  • Preparing drinks for the waitstaff to help improve Speed of Service and table turns.
  • Performing other work-related duties as assigned.
