About The Position

The Host/Hostess position in Food and Nutrition Services is a full-time role responsible for serving patient meals, assisting with setup, and preparing snacks accurately and timely according to procedures. This role involves returning to patient rooms to pick up trays and confirm satisfaction, while adhering to strict hand hygiene, patient identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. The Host/Hostess will utilize basic diet therapy training to help patients select appropriate menu items and maintain food safety standards according to HACCP and department guidelines. Responsibilities also include monitoring and delivering floor stock to designated units, checking for expired products, and logging refrigerator/freezer temperatures. Excellent customer service skills are essential for point-of-service interactions and resolving patient concerns. This position is located at Texas Health Dallas and operates within a fast-paced environment serving an average of 450 patients per meal.

Requirements

  • 6 Months experience in a food service position or applicable customer service experience. Req
  • FHC - Food Handlers Certificate 30 Days Req

Nice To Haves

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Pref
  • Restaurant or Healthcare experience and prior supervisory/leadership experience pref

Responsibilities

  • Serve patient meals, assist with set up and prepare snacks accurately and timely according to procedures.
  • Returns to the patient room within a reasonable period of time to pick up dirty tray and to confirm satisfaction with the patient.
  • Comply with hand hygiene, patient identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Utilizes basic diet therapy training to assist patients in selecting correct menu items as needed.
  • Maintains food safety requirements according to HACCP and department standards in the performance of all duties.
  • Maintains clean and orderly work area, ensuring compliance with health department and facility requirements.
  • Monitor, prepare, and deliver floor stock to designated units according to FIFO and check for expired product and/or prohibited food items.
  • Check and log refrigerator/freezer temperatures on the nursing units.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills at point of service and in resolution of complaints/concerns/ questions.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
