About The Position

The Host/Hostess works in Food and Nutrition Services at Texas Health Southlake, serving patient meals and supporting food service operations. The role is per diem, as needed, with day hours that vary. It involves assisting patients with menu selections using basic diet therapy training, ensuring food safety and cleanliness, and providing courteous customer service. The position also supports floor-stock delivery and monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures on nursing units.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in food service or applicable customer service experience.
Food Handlers Certificate (FHC) required within 30 days.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of food service experience in a healthcare or restaurant setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve patient meals and assist with set up and timely preparation of snacks according to procedures.
Return to patient rooms within a reasonable period to pick up dirty trays and confirm patient satisfaction.
Follow hand hygiene, patient identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Use basic diet therapy training to assist patients with selecting appropriate menu items as needed.
Maintain food safety requirements according to HACCP and department standards.
Keep the work area clean and orderly and comply with health department and facility requirements.
Monitor, prepare, and deliver floor stock to designated units according to FIFO; check for expired products and prohibited food items.
Check and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures on nursing units.
Demonstrate excellent customer service at the point of service and when resolving complaints, concerns, or questions.
Perform other job duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
