About The Position

The Host/Hostess works in the Food and Nutrition Services Department at Texas Health Southlake, serving patient meals and supporting food service operations. The role assists patients with menu selections using basic diet therapy training, prepares and sets up snacks, and provides courteous customer service. It also involves maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards, monitoring and delivering floor stock, and checking and recording temperatures on nursing-unit refrigerators and freezers. This is a per-diem, as-needed position with day hours that vary.

Requirements

At least 6 months of experience in food service or applicable customer service experience.
Food Handlers Certificate (FHC) required within 30 days.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of food service experience in a healthcare or restaurant setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve patient meals, assist with setup, and prepare snacks accurately and promptly according to procedures.
Return to patient rooms within a reasonable period to collect used trays and confirm patient satisfaction.
Follow hand hygiene, patient identification, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Use basic diet therapy training to help patients select appropriate menu items as needed.
Maintain food safety requirements according to HACCP and department standards.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area in compliance with health department and facility requirements.
Monitor, prepare, and deliver floor stock to designated units according to FIFO; check for expired products and prohibited food items.
Check and log refrigerator and freezer temperatures on nursing units.
Demonstrate excellent customer service and resolve complaints, concerns, and questions.
Perform other job duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
