About The Position

McMillan has an exciting opportunity as a Hospitality and Events Assistant in our Toronto Hospitality & Concierge Services department. As a member of the team, you will play a key role in providing food & beverage service to the boardrooms for client meetings, seminars and firm events as well as staff lounges. This role is an onsite role 3 days a week (Tuesday - Thursday).

Requirements

  • Catering experience in a hospitality or professional services environment
  • Strong understanding of food cuisines and various food & beverage service styles, including fine dining
  • Exceptional client services skills with a commitment to delivering a "five-star" experience
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and composed when multi-tasking or working under pressure, with a strong "can-do" attitude
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn new software programs and embrace evolving technology
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 15–20 pounds on a regular basis
  • Flexibility to work overtime or on short notice for special events

Nice To Haves

  • Bartending or mixology experience considered an asset
  • Smart Serve and Food Handlers certification considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Setting up and tear down of all catering requirements, including furniture to all meeting rooms in a timely manner, ensuring meeting rooms are set up and prepared according to standard, including working with IT and Facilities team members
  • Providing guests with excellent, professional and prompt service
  • Ability to serve both daily catering and onsite events independently at a high level with some supervision
  • Maintaining an ongoing knowledge of dietary restrictions
  • Maintaining general tidiness of all meeting rooms, staff lounge and hallways in the Client Centre
  • Assisting with stocking beverage fridges with inventory to ensure readiness
  • Ensuring that all meetings and requests in the Meeting Workspace Booking System are monitored and fulfilled on a constant basis
  • Supporting the cleaning schedule for the main kitchen and equipment
  • Assisting with stocking of supplies to the main kitchen, boardrooms and serveries, when required
  • Maintaining the organization of the department storage areas, including assisting and conducting department inventory when require
  • Washing and polishing of dishes, silverware, glassware and cater ware
  • Completing last minute requests with efficiency
