About The Position

At Block by Block, we employ Ambassadors to make public spaces better by making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities we serve. If you're outgoing and friendly, and enjoy working outside and meeting new people, we have just the job for you -- Hospitality Ambassador. This is also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors who are looking for their first job. Ready to bring the energy and be the friendly face of one of Boston’s busiest neighborhoods? We’re looking for outgoing, upbeat Hospitality Ambassadors to help create a welcoming, vibrant experience throughout the Longwood Medical Area.

Requirements

• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk and stand continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Nice To Haves

• Experience preferred, but not required. We will train.

Responsibilities

• Greet pedestrians, patients, visitors, and staff with a warm, positive attitude
• Help people navigate the area by providing clear, accurate directions
• Share the fun! Guide guests to local happenings like lawn games, food trucks, pop-up events, and live entertainment
• Be a go-to resource for questions, recommendations, and neighborhood info
• Keep the vibe high by creating a safe, friendly, and engaging environment
• Carry out a wide variety of tasks to improve the overall experience and appearance of the zone they are assigned to.
• Maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and/or city information.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to the Safety Ambassadors via two-way radios.
• Complete basic daily reports of tasks completed.
