About The Position

Block by Block employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities they serve. The Hospitality Ambassador is highly visible at street level and carries out a variety of tasks to improve the experience and appearance of an assigned zone. The role requires a positive, professional demeanor and includes engaging with pedestrians and visitors, sharing directions or city information, and maintaining public areas. The position involves outdoor work in all conditions and continuous walking during an eight-hour shift; work may include riding a three-wheeled bike cart.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Able to walk continuously during an eight-hour shift; duties may include riding a three-wheeled bike cart.
Able to work outdoors in all conditions.
Able to speak, read, and write English to provide information and complete basic reports.

Nice To Haves

Experience is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Valid driver's license preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain a positive, professional demeanor while serving as a visible presence in the assigned zone.
Acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting or smile, and provide directions and/or city information.
Remove litter from streets, sidewalks, and alleys while moving through the zone with a rolling trash can containing supplies and tools.
Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, news boxes, and other surfaces.
Pull weeds.
Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces such as trash can lids and news boxes.
Watch for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report them to Safety Ambassadors using two-way radios.
Complete basic daily reports of tasks performed.
