About The Position

The Hospital Veterinarian provides medical care at a Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospital, with an emphasis on high-quality patient care and supporting an effective, well-trained hospital team. The veterinarian examines, diagnoses, treats, and provides preventive care for patients; performs routine and complex surgical and dental procedures; and develops treatment plans for hospitalized patients. The role works closely with clients, veterinary specialists, hospital partners, and medical leaders to promote continuity of care and a positive patient and customer experience. In caring for individual patients, the veterinarian receives direct supervision from the Hospital Medical Leader or Area Medical Director and exercises discretion in patient-care decisions while following Petco Veterinary SOPs. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, though the veterinarian is expected to act as a leader in the hospital and contribute to staff knowledge, teamwork, and a high standard of care. Most duties take place in a veterinary hospital and involve direct contact with clients and pets.
