About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time Hospital Manager to join our Shelter Medical team at our Sunnyslope Campus. This role offers a consistent Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, and the opportunity to lead a team making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the people who care for them. As the Hospital Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Sunnyslope Trauma Hospital while championing AHS' core values of innovation, compassion, and excellence. You'll lead and develop a high performing team, oversee staffing and training, ensure efficient hospital operations, and maintain strong communication with veterinarians, employees, leadership, and HR. You'll also play a key role in ensuring compliance and maintaining high standards of patient care, including overseeing policies and procedures, controlled drug requirements, licensing, safety, and regulatory standards. This role will manage department budgets and purchasing, monitor operational data, respond to urgent treatment and transfer needs, and identify opportunities to improve processes and outcomes. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of the hospital and your team by developing staff, providing training, addressing challenges, and partnering with leadership to implement positive changes. Requirements

  • Three to five years' in a veterinary medicine role required.
  • Minimum three years veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Able to flourish in a high-volume, fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and be able to resolve conflict.
  • Able to speak, read, write and understand English.
  • Able to develop budgets and estimate costs.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to be compliant with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of AZ Premise and DEA requirements preferred.
  • Experience in an animal welfare organization preferred.
  • Spanish language helpful.
