About The Position

Glenwood Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time Financial Counselor at our Cincinnati location. This position is responsible for accurate, timely, and complete documentation regarding insurance verification, billing, and collections. The role involves financial counseling of patients, collecting out-of-pocket expenses, and providing information on benefits and financial obligations. Additionally, the Financial Counselor will complete financial disclosure paperwork, adjustment forms, and promissory notes, and maintain various logs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years' experience in a related field required.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Commercial Insurance and Medicare/Medicaid required.

Responsibilities

  • Auditing admission packets and verifying benefits and patient demographic information in the patient accounting system.
  • Financial counseling of patients and/or guarantors and collecting out-of-pocket expenses (deductibles, copays, exhausted days, etc.).
  • Providing information to patients and/or guarantors regarding their benefits and financial obligations.
  • Completing financial disclosure paperwork for patients requesting assistance, including verifying income and expenses.
  • Completing adjustment forms for any charity or administrative adjustments for approval.
  • Completing promissory notes for patients requesting payment arrangements.
  • Updating the upfront collection log, charity log, and admin adjustment log daily and reviewing with BOD on a weekly basis.
  • Gathering and interpreting data from the system to understand the appropriate course of action and initiating time-sensitive and strategic steps resulting in payment.
  • Performing other functions and tasks as assigned.
