About The Position
AdvisaCare Hospice is seeking compassionate and dependable individuals to volunteer their time to support hospice patients in Genesee County. This is a non-paid position where volunteers can make a significant difference in the lives of patients and their families. No prior healthcare experience is necessary, and volunteers must be 18 years or older. Please note that hospice does not accept court-ordered service hours.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Willing to submit to TB and Drug Tests.
- Willing to be Fingerprinted.
Nice To Haves
- Compassionate and dependable individuals.
- Licensed therapy dogs for pet therapy.
- Ability to play the guitar.
- Pre-med students interested in gerontology patient care.
Responsibilities
- Sit bedside with hospice patients in nursing facilities.
- Provide caregiver relief inside private residences.
- Offer pet therapy with already licensed dogs to visit patients.
- Play the guitar bedside of hospice patients.
- Provide bereavement volunteer support through calls to family.
- Assist with grief groups.
- Pre-med students can gain experience in gerontology patient care.
- Provide grief support remotely.
