About The Position

Heartstrings Pet Hospice is seeking a compassionate veterinarian to provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets and their families in San Mateo, Redwood City, El Granada, Daly City, California, and the surrounding metropolitan area. Care is delivered in pets’ homes, where veterinarians help families understand their options and say goodbye with dignity and peace. The role offers time for unhurried appointments and independent mobile practice, with onboarding, one-on-one mentorship, and support from experienced colleagues. Schedule options include five-day or four-day full-time schedules and two- or three-day schedules, including self-managed part-time DVM Flex-Scheduling. Compensation is guaranteed and ranges from $65,000 to $155,000 depending on schedule, with quarterly bonus opportunities. Weekend days are selected by the veterinarian: four weekend days per month. Candidates must complete license verification, a background check, and a driving record review before their start date.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD, or BVMS).
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 90 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

Provide hospice and in-home euthanasia care to pets in their homes.
